Deadline: March 27, 2026
Pulitzer on the Road: Prize-Winning Works that Inform, Empower & Inspire is a national traveling exhibition from the American Library Association and The Pulitzer Prizes. Eighteen public libraries will be selected to host a 1,400-square-foot exhibit for six weeks in 2027 or 2028.
The exhibit features historical and contemporary Pulitzer Prize–winning photojournalism, books, drama, and music. Through panel displays, digital interactives, and hands-on activities, visitors will experience prize-winning work, hear from prize-winners, and learn about the important role of journalism, books, drama, and music in a democratic society. Eligible applicants include U.S. public libraries, including tribal and state libraries, and those in U.S. territories.
Host libraries must present at least four public programs connected to the exhibit. Programs may be in-person, virtual, or hybrid, with at least two in-person. Program formats may include author or journalist talks, panels, book discussions, workshops, or community dialogues.
Selected libraries receive a $3,000 programming allowance to support events (speaker fees, materials, field trip transportation costs, space rental, refreshments, promotion, etc.), and also exhibit shipping, planning, logistics, and reporting resources, a private ALA Connect group, and promotional/media training from a brand strategy and communications firm.
Applications are submitted through ALA Apply. You may preview a PDF of the application before getting started. More information and FAQs are available at: https://www.ala.org/tools/programming/pulitzer.
