Deadline: December 31, 2026
Purpose: The Laura Bush Foundation for America’s Libraries provides grants to low-income schools to help expand, update, and diversify their school library collections, with the goal of encouraging students to develop a love of reading and learning. Recent grantees have used the funding to add in-demand books, including e-books and Spanish-language titles. The foundation has announced that 2027 will be its final grant cycle.
Award: The 2026-27 application does not yet specify an award amount. In the 2025–26 grant cycle, the foundation awarded more than $1 million to 220 school libraries. Recent grants have generally been around $5,000 per school.
Eligibility: Title I-eligible public schools, including charter and magnet schools, and private or parochial schools where at least 50% of students qualify for financial aid. All applicants must have a school library.
