PLA Grants for Promoting Healthy Communities: Libraries Connecting You to Coverage
Deadline: March 5, 2019
PLA, in partnership with Community Catalyst and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, are working together to help communities understand health insurance and health information. Public libraries, as critical community anchors, are well positioned to share information about how to use health insurance, develop health literacy skills and how to make healthy choices. Seventy (70) U.S. public libraries will be offered $500 for their public library to apply towards increasing communication about health insurance literacy and health information. Priority will be given to recipients of first round funding of the Libraries Connecting You to Coverage initiative.
Activities including programs, events, advertising and outreach must be completed by May 1, 2019. Grantees will be required to submit a brief metrics report for activities completed in March and April if applicable. All public libraries, regardless of whether they apply for a PLA grant, are encouraged to take advantage of PLA's health insurance literacy resources. Visit the Libraries Connecting You to Coverage web page for posters, flyers, videos, ready-made social media ads and graphics, answers to frequently asked coverage questions and more. Questions about the initiative and grants may be directed to Leighann Wood, PLA program manager, at email@example.com.
