Sage is accepting submissions for its 2026 Critical Thinking Challenge, a competition that spotlights creative and practical approaches to strengthening critical thinking in higher education.
Eligible applicants include professors, researchers, and academic librarians. Submit one blog-style entry (about 750 words) written as a proposed post for Social Science Space, responding to one of several prompts focused on topics related to improving how critical thinking is taught, including information literacy and the library’s role. Concrete examples such as classroom activities, assessment models, library programming, or faculty‑development models are encouraged.
Sage will select eight entries for publication and then choose three winners from those published submissions: 1st Place ($2,000), 2nd and 3rd Place ($500 each). Award funds must support a research project or academic library initiative, such as materials or software, piloting or assessment costs, library programming or resource development, student support, or professional development or training tied to the proposed work.
